tranny gone bad
My 94 f150 4x4 automatic was getting hot on a long trip back in july so I stopped at krogers and when I come back out it was leaking transmission fluid from around the transfer case. So I when to the nearest autozone and bought 2 gallons of fluid and stop at the nearest hotel for the night. The next day it took almost both gallons to bring it up to where it needed to be. Since that day it has never leak again. But I have not took any long trips and dont plan to.

Pull the fill/level bung on the transfer case and check the fluid level (should be up to the lower edge of the bung).
It may be that the seal between the trans and the transfer case is bad and the trans is overfilling fluid into the transfer case.
