Recent repairs
Just to take a second to list some of the repairs I made recently on my 00 7.3.
It started with my parking brake not setting at all. I read on here about the adjustment for the drums...simple. I am a little concerned that it may be too tight because the brakes wont drag, but the pedal will only push down an inch or so and it is solid when it stops.
Then I was still having cold start issues even after pulling the valve covers a few months back and performing the 50 cent mod and replacing glow plugs. I believe I had a glow plug that wasn't activating properly since the truck would run rough until about the time I would suspect the plugs to cycle off. So I went ahead and replaced the gpr and pulled the valve cover on the passenger side. The UVHC was canted out a little on one side. I read voltage on all the plug caps and they were all the same. Plugged the caps back up pushed the UVHC back tight and put the cover back on. Truck had no issues this morning on a cold morning and ran better than it has in a while, more power it felt like but may have been the sense of satisfaction.
Next I pulled the dash and replaced the airbag light which when it goes out causes a series of chimes after starting the truck as well as every 30 minutes. Problem semi fixed. Chimes are gone but now the light is back on. I understand at one time there was a recall on the airbag switch. Is anyone familiar with this? I believe it is why my airbag light stays on but I may be wrong.
I have had a rattle under my floor board, so I climbed under and discovered that my stabilizer bar link bar bushings were shot all the way around. I ordered new poly bushings from Energy Suspension which should be in shortly and hopefully the rattle will then go away.
Also in an effort to earn some brownie points I replaced the fuel filters on my girlfriend's 04 6.0. This forum has proven to be an extremely helpful resource. Being able to research before I start has saved me a lot of cussing and frustration.
