Help with carb popping
I have a 1973 302 no emissions motor. I'm using a Holley 4160 4bbl with non adjustable float bowls. I'm getting a popping sound from the carb as I accelerate. Ive only drove around the block for testing purposes. Things I have done. New distributer, new heads, carb was a reman, new coil, wires and plugs. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Is that a backfire? That is either too lean (not enough acceleration enrichment, power valve not opening) or too early timing.
My own story: I found out what happens when the carburetor is too rich and I dialed in too much timing advance, and I goosed the throttle...singed eyebrows from the fireball that shot out of the carb.
