Just installed a new 4150 Holly street avenger carb on 79 400M. I got the floats adjusted but i am still getting a back fire/ pop thru the carb. I can usually set up a carb pretty good but i am far from an expert. Any ideas?
O and it replaced a POS edelbrock which dumped so much fuel in it was flooding the engine. Think i should clean the plugs and give it another go?
Im having the same issue as you but my carb is a motorcraft two barrel, i dont know cause with mine i think it might be a float issue cause once its fully closed it idles smoothly but i dont know....
I am having the same issue. 400 2brl. I can only advance the timing to 6btdc. The truck has been sitting for 7 years, but after a few precautionary measures it fired right up. It was running fine and then one morning after sitting for 2 days I started backfiring and popping. Plugs were new, changed distributor, rotor and wires and still does it.
My apologies in advance if this is considered hijacking a thread. If so I will start a new thread.
