Question Need Help identifying a problem (suspension)

I have a '95 150 XLT, with a 351w 2wd. Sometimes when I turn sharp out of or into my drive way or to park (slow), ill get a pretty loud knock in the drivers side suspension. I'm thinking U-joint? But could be a lot of things. What should I look for when I get under there.

I'd be looking at the Balljoints.....Also, the wheel bearings...

Just take a peek, if its the ball joints, you'll see the space between the spindle/balljoint.....It'll be obvious...

While you're under there...A quick squirt of grease wouldn't hurt...To grease everything up....And look into the tie rod ends, etc..

Can't be too safe!

But I'm laying money on a worn ball joint...

This is also a good point...basically...Look for worn/new looking metal...lol

basically look around...Jack the front end up on each side....See if the wheel is floppy...Pull in and out on it/up and down...If so...

it's as I said...If its the balljoint, you'll see it flexing in its "Cradle"...lol

As for a wheel bearing, it'll be floppy in general....They're SIMPLE to replace...

2wd can also have the sway bar. Worn out bushings in that are the leading cause of front end knocks in most vehicles with no other symptoms . Check em if you got em ...

This. The noise described sounds like exactly what happens with worn out radius arm bushings.

Make sure to check out the radius arm brackets on the frame, too. If the hole for the bushing is worn or they are very rusty, you will want to replace those brackets too.

Its going to take longer than i thought...i have to grind down the stupid rivets that are holding the bracket in place...unless there is another way...

Use a cutoff wheel instead...I usually make a full cut right in the center...And if needed make another....Then simply hammer them out...
