I replaced the ball joints on an 87 bronco 4x4 along with other suspension parts. The upper ball joints were a heavy duty type and had no place on the bottom to insert grease, it was flat and solid. Also had a seemed to be permant boot over the ball already. The lower joints did have a place to apply grease and I did. Would the heavy duty joints already be greased or do they and can they be greased additionally?
Reason for question, when i turn the wheel to either side I can hear a clicking sound. Generally when moving at slow speeds. I have recently had the front end aligned and they supposedly check the suspension components such as that during the alignment. They said everything looked good. It is a Firestone shop and would assume such a large shop would be aware of any problems such as non greased ball joints.
you may have loose or worn front bearings. jack the front end up and grab the tire by the top and bottem and see if you can move in/out. if so then your bearings need packed or replaced. i will say that the front TTb does have a tendancy to click and if everything else checks out you will just have to live with it. not hurting anything ya know. but check the bearings just to be sure
i have changed and repacked the bearings already, but will double check. it was my first time doing it and i'm sure i could have screwed up. how essential is it for me to do it right now or can a wait a bit and could a lack of grease cause it as well?
The Clips Wedge The Brake Pads Into Place (kinda) Anyway, All You Need To Do Is Check Them With Your Finger To Make Sure That They Are Not Loose And Rattling Around. Some Times The Spring Steel (when It Ages) Loses Its Strength.
