Thanks, got it off and it was full of oil. Ordered a new one (and an AE reader from Clay at Riff Raff diesel). I appreciate all the good advice.

Just to clarify which end was full of oil? Wire side or the side in the head?

Head side-wire side looks dry. By you asking, I'm afraid it isn't bad?

If the connection where the plug goes into the sensor doesn't have oil, it may not have been bad.

You do understand that when you say head side it sounds like you are talking about where you unscrewed it right? When you say that I want to make sure you are aware that this is how the sensor reads Injector Control Pressure, and using actual oil to "push" on the pressure sensor, so in the head there will be oil.

I barely know anything......that's why I'm here. I should have waited for my AE reader (also from Riff Raff Diesel) to get here, thought I'd go ahead and order them at the same time. I only found out what ICP meant a short time ago, and now I understand how it reads pressure. Doh! Anyway, it probably won't hurt me to have a new ICP sensor in my bag of tricks-the truck has 150,000 miles and hasn't been changed. I was really wanting that to be the fix.......

Never hurts to have spares, I have 2 ICP and 2 IPR in my toolbox, HPOP lines, 2 CPS.

Sorry man, I was hoping to hear back before our final UPS pick up because I was wondering about that.

I copied a list of accronyms, and I know what ICP and CPS stand for, but IPR and HPOP are not listed. Is there a better list (the one I printed from here was 11 pages long), I try to follow a post and there will be five or six terms that I have no clue about. It's embarrassing to know diddle but I'll work through that I hope.

Did you put the old ICP back in then? It would be a good idea. you don't want any debris getting in the oil in that hole. That oil inside there is what fires your injectors. Any trash gets in there and it could foul an injector.

No problem Clay, I hope to have this truck forever, might as well end up with a good parts kit. I've just come back from Wyoming-pulled a 17' cargo trailer full of gear along-and the truck hiccuped a bit out there. I want to be able to keep myself out of a bad spot by learning how to fix it myself. It would have been very unhandy to have broken down completely 1600 miles from home.

IPR - Injection Pressure Regulator
CPS or CPM - Cam Position Sensor

Remember, just because there isnt any oil in the connector doesn't mean the ICP isn't your stumble issue. Oil in the connector is just a sure way to know that if it isn't the problem it will be soon.
