So...... I sure picked the wrong damned time to quit smoking. There's an oil line or something in the way of me getting my socket over the IPR. I'm afraid of breaking it or me if I keep trying to force the socket on. Any tips? Thanks!
Nevermind, it seems that of the 3 1/2" drive, 6 point, deep well, 1-1/8" sockets I have (including Lowes brand Cobalt mentioned in one of the writeups) has a hole big enough for the end of the IPR. I can't slide the socket on deep enough to enagage the "nut" part of the IPR.
Mike you'll have too either get a snap-on deep well and drillout the center or cut and welt 2 other sockets together I've had some luck with a snap-on and a crafts man end wrench used to get a 1/16 of a turn then change wrench anne repeat but that takes forever! Good luck

Slide the socket on first, without the ratchet, then you can get just enough of the ratchet in the socket to turn it. It will not go all the way in the socket but it doen't need too. That is how I got mine out several times.

The hole in the center of my sockets is not big enough for the end of the IPR to go through. I can get a ratchet on no problem, because I need the socket to go another 1/4" or so on the IPR before I can catch the "nut".
Back up and running after a $286 IPR and a $20 1-1/8" deep socket. I am definitely going to take that brand new IPR out when we attack that HPOP bolt. Ugh... would have ordered one but needed my truck..... Im trying to justify it with peace of mind.
Once I get the bolt ground off and that stock HPOP out, I'll just get the IPR mounted up on my new T-500 and throw it in all at once.
Any tricks to getting those oil lines off without a tool? or should I just order one up so that its not a hassle come time to take them off.
Bryce, I would just order the tool from Clay, you've been thru enough headaches with your hpop. The tool makes an otherwise frustrating job simple, and it's only around $16.
I wish you the best getting that bolt out.
I guess I got lucky, I tossed my T500 on my truck just before an 880 mile trip pulling the camper. Everything came apart and went back together just as planned. (very unusual for me )
