Yep, soldering keeps the oxygen out to help prevent corrosion. I solder whenever possible.

I'm definitely soldering. It's easier than crimping for me cause I don't have anything to crimp with. But the factory bridge cable is 4 gauge...

I wouldn't solder large, high current joints without crimping first. If you just dump a lot of solder in there, it will have some resistance and could get hotter than if crimped.

+1 you have to crimp for the mechanical support.
