My filter minder grenaded from a very large Turbo fart. The noise and the light turning on scared me to death. I guess these 6.0's are problematic. replacement was $18.01!
its even better when you blow off a boost tube. i remember the first time i did it i had just replaced an injector for the first time. my stomach sank to my feet until i figured out what it was. then when my little bro got his 6.0 we did something under the hood and when we were done i purposly left the boost tube alittle loose to where it would hold for a min before it blew. needless to say he was about ready to crap out his heart when he heard the boom! atleast it was a cheap fix for ya!

Crap! Some joke! Those little "pops" can dent the hood. I would have been just a little peeved about a dented hood!
(you didn't happen to have film rolling for the look on his face did you?)
no i did it down by the innercooler so i wouldnt dent the hood im not that mean. mine put a dent in my hood and i was pissed and i wasnt about to do it to his truck that i basically totally rebuilt. but no i wish i had a camera rolling if i would have i def would have put it up on here for a good laugh
my turbo boot blew off after i had just got my truck back together from doin head gaskets an studs. that job was my first time workin on a diesel. needless to say , i scared me to death. i though i had done something wrong an had blown up my motor or something.

Scared the ***** outta me when I did this on my old work truck! Did it while making a pass on the highway at about 70+ at full throttle.....after the "bomb" went off under the hood (and in my pants), a huge black cloud of smoke poured out from under me in my rearview mirror.....needless to say, I thought I blew the motor until I pulled over and popped the hood. Saw what happened, fixed it and back on the road less than 2 minutes later.....had to go home to get a clean set of underwear!
I clearly remember my first Filter Minder grenading. It was shortly after my first tuning venture (Edge Juice) with the 6.0's, and the headgaskets were giving up. There was coolant EVERYWHERE.... the engine compartment, my AMP step, my shocks, the front diff and leafs, and... the Filter Minder! Only it was now in about 7 pieces. I knew immediately they were not impervious to hot coolant! I have kept a spare stashed ever since.
