Chip, Air intake, Headers. Not a whole hell of a lot you can do with these things. Mine has got 230k on it, just waiting to blow it up so i can get a PI engine.

What engine does the truck have?

Gears will give you your best results....

After that, Gotts Mod intake, long tube headers, and custom tuining will all make a decent amount of difference.

But honestly, Forced induction is going to give you the power that you really want.

Horse power is very exspensive! I've built a few mustangs and lost lots of money.

What are you planning on doing with the truck? Mudding or pavement pounding?

The truck has the 5.4 and I've been pricing around on some engine parts for it. I want to go with a vortec supercharger or a whipple supercharger. I plan on mostly pavement pounding but I want to be able to put it in the mud too. (And I plan on it) I want to stay cheap on this motor and save up for a windsor 5.0 or try to find a lightning 5.4. But I plan on putting long tube headers, a chip, intake, underdrive pulleys and some little add on things. I may even see about putting a bigger cam to go for that loping sound. When i get back from basic training I want to see about putting a 512 in it. or even a crate 7.3....

I would do a lightning swap on your current 5.4l. It will probably end up being the cheapest power adder you can do. And it gives great results.

Putting a 5.0 windsor isnt going to be an easy swap at all, the engine controls are what make it such a difficult swap. Anybody can cut weld in new engine/transmission/transfer case supports. But the ECU is what gets ya every time.

a 512 or 7.3 as you say would also be over kill and very costly/time consuming swaps. But if you have the money anything is possible.

I suggest building your own motor. Lswap, long tubes, and a good custom tune will get you north of 400 hp.

lightning swap= lswap.

No direct kit that im aware of. But there is a somwhere that tells you every part you need. Im not sure what it is. I have see on f150online.net several kits people have put together go up for sale. I would buy one but the wife would kill me.
