Horn Question

I haven't posted in a while, been plugging away on my 73 F100.

PO swapped in a 79 non-cruise equipped steering column. Having a little bit of trouble with the horn at this point. The horn is not connected at all at this point.

I realize the 79 did not have a horn relay in the wiring... but it is connected somehow, I can hear the relay actuating when the button is depressed.

Is there a simple way to bypass the relay and just take the hot lead over to the horn itself? I tried what I thought should work, and burned up an ICM and smoked some alternator wiring .

I believe this is the last thing I need for inspection, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK... so looking at the closest wiring diagram I have... (1974) looks like there are four wires involved

B/Y- Horn switch
2 yellow wires
1 Y/GR wire

if I'm seeing that correctly, I only have the first three wires present, but that looks like all that is supposed to be coming out of the relay...
