Speedometer Gear Choice (cable end)

I'm trying to dial in my '81 F100 speedometer. I recently found out that I have a B/W T18 transmission, a 9" rearend with 2.47 gears and tires that are 28" tall (30X9.50-15). I've been playing with speedo gears that I had left over from when I tinkered on 1965 Mustangs, Falcons, Comets, etc. A 20-tooth gear registered 35 MPH on my speedometer when I was actually going 50 MPH (GPS). I then installed a 16-tooth which registered 45 MPH on my speedometer when I was actually going 50 MPH. I just want to make sure I am heading in the right direction......I need less teeth on my speedo gear, right? 16 is the least amount of teeth that I have..........are there ones available with less teeth? I'm thinking 14 or 15?????

Thank You!

I am note 100% sure, but I think 16 is the lowest driven gear they made. You will probably need to change the drive gear. I think they come in 7, 8, and 9 tooth variety. To change it, you have to pull the drive shaft yoke out and remove the trans tail housing.
