Trying to get the 4wd working in my 2000 f350. I have warn lock out hubs and the electronic selector switch in the dash. I know the 4x4 and low range light work cause they come on when I start the truck. If I lock the hubs in and turn the switch to 4 high or 4 low I get nothing. I've checked the connections to the motor on the transfer case, blew both plugs and connectors out with air compressor to get dust and dirt out. I checked fuse 28 under the dash and fuse 17 in the power distribution box, which is what the owners manual said was for the 4x4. If I unplug the switch that is in the dash and check the wires that connect to the back of it should I have power to any of them? I checked them with a meter and there is mo power to any of them. I also read of a relay that needs to be checked but I don't know which one or where it is.
Some times my truck is stubborn. When I put it in 4hi I have to wheel forward about 5 feet from a stop and then Itll go in. For 4low same thing for it to ingage the front, and you should put it in neutral when shifting at a complete stop.
Subscribing...I have no power at my switch either unless I have the parking lights on. From what I have read (when parking lights are on) is that we should have a hot on one far side and the opposite far side is the ground, which is true on mine but shouldn't we have juice at one of the other two holes on the ESOF wire other than the parking light power to tell the transfer case motor when to shift?
To somebody out there that has the ESOF working properly, If you have a couple minutes and a light tester, do us a favor and pull the ESOF switch out and tell us if one or both of the center holes has juice.
Here check these out. manual995 talks about the transfer case and manual 991 is electrical these helped me find out what my problem was. They give you voltages and ohms to troubleshoot components.
@ Microdevil, thanks for the link but I couldn't find the section pertaining to the ESOF switch. Would you have a link to the specific pages? When I looked there was like 485 pages!
I also found some more time today to check some things out. I took my transfer case motor off and hooked up the two wire connector to a buddies truck and the motor worked, I then took the switch off of my truck and it worked at switching his still installed motor on his truck. So the problemis in my truck somewhere. We put all of the under hood relays on the spot that controls the blower motor and all relays powered the blower so I am assuming they are all working correctly.
Another interesting thing we found which answers a previous question of mine is that there is no power to the ESOF switch besides the power for the switch light!! How in the h*]] does this switch work without any power? Is it a negative ground operation?? Hopefully if I can find the wiring and power schematics we can get this figured out.
Please help!!
PS: LSO1123, please don't think I am trying to hijack your post. I felt that we had the same issue and am hoping that any info we find will help us both get this POS ESOF working correctly.
I just downloaded them since they are a PDF and read them as needed. Once you download them you can jump around very easy. Keeps me from killing trees.

Heck no man I appreciate the help and info! Well get this thing figured out!
After removing the transfer case motor cover I noticed at one time it must have been full of water. The electronic motor itself was corroded bad which makes me think that when I tried operating the motor before it may have been very wet and burned up or shorted out whatever powers it.
I still need to find out what powers the switch. I tried looking at the schematics that were offered earlier on this post but I don't have a good code reader, just my Aeroforce scan gauge and it shows no codes were thrown.
Unless somebody has any other ideas my next step is going to the stealership...I don't want to do that!!!
