I have replaced the worm gear on the back of my instrument cluster. 1997 f150 4.6. I had trouble with the needles on all my gauges afterwords. This is an analog cluster. So I am trying to pull the needles to make sure they are in the correct start position and can't remember if the fuel gauge goes to E when the key is in the off position. Can anyone tell me before I try and fix something that is working OK.

 

yes, gas gauge reads empty when key is off.
