My '99 F-150 has a bad gauge cluster. The temp gauge doesn't work, and the odometer flickers alien writing lol.
I got a NICE cluster from a '97 Expidition, and installed it. When I went to start it the "anti-theft" light was going NUTS and it refused to start. I replaced the cluster again with the original and everything was fine.
My question is, what do I need to do to use the new cluster i got from the Expo??
You will have to get the data down loaded from your old cluster and uploaded into the new cluster. A dealer exclusive affair you will need a NGS WDS or IDS . Clusters aren't just plug and play. Most stealers charge at least an hour labor
The instrument cluster is responsable for the PATS system operation . Meaning its the heart of the theft system.
You will find that the 97 Expy's cluster will not work in your 99 F150. Different implementation of the PATS system. You will need to find a 99 or newer cluster from an F150 or an Expy (maybe).

Oh yeah that too . I forgot about the 99/97 difference . Having both vehicles to boot (LOL)
