When I first got my F250 back in '08 I noticed that everytime you held in BOTH buttons to operate both the driver's and passenger's window, the light for door(s) ajar would come on and make this annoying long beeping sound until I let go of the button (this does NOT happen on my F350 -- same year vehicle). Now I notice that when I press AUTO for the driver's window and let go, the window does go down but when it gets about 3/4 of the way open, it slows down tremendously. I'm thinking the motor is dying, as this happened on my F350 a few years back (though I never had a gauge light come on or any beeping). The window went down and wouldn't close ~ and it was freakin' below freezing that day. Grrr...
Should I assume the motor is on its way out, or is there something else it could be?
Mine is doing the same thing but only in the morning when it’s cooler outside. Once it warms up the window works fine; however, in the morning I need to hold the button down until the window opens all the way. I am sure with my luck that the widow will no longer function when I need it the most. Just another item on the “list” of things to work on.
The door ajar light sounds like a ground problem with both buttons down.
I had the slow window problem and silicone on tracks solved it. I though the motor was just real weak until I rolled down in the rain one day and it worked fine.
Heres a link to my window motor install thread... But you can also use it just to get the door panel off and try a good molly grease on the metal tracks along with the silicone spray in the window tracks...
Silicone sparay the felt guides, but the metal rails in the door need to be cleaned with parts cleaner then greased real good too. If that doesn't do the trick, then look into cleaning the window switch contacts and then the motor.
