How long do they hold up? at 109K should I look a getting rid of it I live where I don't have to worry about emissions.

Yeah, but why wait till the last minute. There has to be an average life to those things..

I think a lot depends on how the truck is used, lots of short hops it may not last as long but if it's wormed up almost every trip it will tend to last longer. My truck has been run hard pulling trailers the last 11 years 117K miles so I don't even think about it.

I get that rotten egg smell sometimes after I park in the garage. I figured that was a bad sign?

Have not gotten that yet. This truck sounds like it have trouble trying to push exhaust out. Kinda of sissshing sound weird.

drive your truck for at least 100miles and stretch her legs, let it build up some consistent heat and a lot should burn off and clean out.

I haven't gutted one, but I can tell you what the results would be:
mpg? No change
Power? Maybe 1.0 hp
Stink? Huge increase!
Noise? Will definitely increase, possibly with resonances.

Before you do it, just take a look inside this monster. Ford did this sucker right! Huge flow capacity.
