What Is The Red Button?

I wonder if they used the power to the horn to run whatever it is that the button operates.. Does it by chance have an aftermarket speedo? My brother just got a 75 with some special speedometer that has a little red button on the steering column to "set the speedometer" although i havent a clue as to how it works or why you would stick that speedometer in there.

it sounds like a horn button, on one of my trucks i have a toggle switch mounted lower part of dash for the horn. i would like to say thanks 
to the po for deciding the steering column didnt need all those wires. have you tried pushing the button?

Nah, the truck doesn't even have a horn in it. I think it was wired to a button because an aftermarket steering wheel was installed.

No one was making fun of someones post!
They were making fun of a dash mounted red button with wires running to the top of the transmission and then running toward the drive shaft
Lighten up, life's too short not to have a little fun.
I left this forum for a year because we had some folks that thought everything was serious and had to be called be exact Ford factory name and berated every new poster for any tiny mistake they made. Thank God these people moved on or were banned.
All the folks on this forum are good about helping each other when there is enough info to do so.
