When putting my truck in drive and moving foward the truck no longer locks my doors. I can hear a clicking under the hood. What contols the door locks so i can replace so my auto door locks will work.
This is a strange thing to stop working. I am not certain but would think it is some sort of relay that is picking up when you shift and apply gas because it doesn't occur in my truck until its over 10mph. That would be were I would start but like I said I am not certain.
The trucks come set with this option, but there is a protocol for disabling it. Forgot how (but was in manual), but I did it. I am wondering if it somehow became disabled, and you simply need to go through the steps to enable it. Easy and cheap, nothing to lose. Check your owner's manual for directions. Good luck.
the dealership suggested to do that so I have already done the reset. The dealership also said with the clicking under the hood it has to be something electronic.
But thanks for the help.
Can you provide more detail about the clicking you are hearing?
Are you hearing this from the driver's seat?
Are you hearing this when you're out of the vehicle, hood up or down?
If from the driver's seat, does the click come from what appears to be the area down by the passenger's side footwell...around the glovebox maybe?
Just looking for a little more info there.
Thanks and welcome to FTE.
The clicking is under the hood on the drivers side when the truck is in motion only. SO that is why i think some type of componit is out which runs the auto door locks. I started hearing the clicking at the same time the auto door lock quick working.
