Boy that sounds good to me. On flat level ground towing my fifth-wheel my EOT will get to 220 at 60 MPH when outside temps are around 80 degrees. But as soon as I hit a grade my EOT will go up to 250+. While climbing the grade up to Tehachapi, California my EOT climbed to 270. Now I know this is a long steep grade and I really don't think that temp will effect synthetic oil but I constantly worry about an oil cooler rupture. I really wonder if any 6.0 will keep low temps even with a good oil cooler when pulling long steep grades with a heavy load and high outside temps. I always try to travel in the very early morning when temps are over 100 degrees during the day. In my old Chevy Tahoe pulling my old travel trailer my oil temps would go up to 300 degrees. It never developed a problem but it didn't have a internal oil cooler either. I hope to keep my current 6.0 for several years so I'm gonna plan on getting the bulletproof oil cooler.

When your EOT gets to 270 your motor should defuel , from what i have read on here at 254 or so they defuel . But anyway i would not be comfortable with though's temps.

I would go one step further and call the guys at BPD. They can give you some real world scenarios and help you with making an educated decision. They know their cooling and just to be safe, I would call 'em and explain what's happening with your truck... As I have posted before to you, I have one and love it. But I live on flat ground, and pull 8 - 10k in thick hot air so my parameters are much different than yours. My oil temps never got above 234 this summer pulling down I-10.

Thanks I will give them a call. The EOT of 270 was from my isspro gauge which has the sensor in the oil pan. The highest EOT I have registered on my scan gauge is 241. The sensor must be located after the oil has been cooled. The scan gauge also registers a lower ECT so by either gauge my delta can go very high.

Maybe I worded that wrong???

With outside temps of 100+ my ECT/EOT temps didn't get much over 200*. I have also found that the bulletproof is fairly dependant on air flow. I can follow an 18 wheeler on the interstate and my 193/193 will jump to 203/203. When I peek the nose out into clean air it will drop back rapidly. With the onset of Fall my ECT stays 188-190 and oil temps hover around 178-188.

As I live up North I also got the By-pass Kit from Bulletproof for the Oil Cooler, now I will find out on a few trips how it all goes together on the Temps of everything. I have pulled the Techappaic heading both East and West, but it was before my new Mods, I know about long grades and how hot things get. Pulled accross Montana and also thru Yellowstone and Eastern Oregon on I 84. Those are some tough pulls, I will do some of them again this next year. Hopefully my temps will be lots cooler now after installing the Bulletproof Coolers.

GMC, I had all the work done by Burien Ford, cost for the labor and head gaskets and putting on my mods for me was around 4K, all the parts came to around 4.5K, so total cost was around 8.5K and that was tax included. Did all that I could to the 6.0L while we had it torn down to do the gaskets, studs,OIL/EGR Cooler rebuilt HPOP new screen assy for HPOP etc, remote oil cooler and filter.

GM, My budget was to get the 6.0L fixed as the HG was shot, and turbo was bad also. Figure on around 300 for EGR Cooler/OIL Cooler with a cold weather By Pass at around 2500 for parts then new fittings on HPOP etc and new turbo drain pipe, cheaper from BPD then from Ford. You are looking at rough price of 3K for parts then is labor to install only other cost.

I tow a 29.5 Triple Slide 5ver, Hitchhiker Brand, weighs 11K on trailer and around 2K on the pin. I am happpy with the way it all works now.
