Terminal Temps

I just returned from an intermountain trip towing a small trailer. I was just curious about the 230+ EOT,220+fWT temps I saw. What is the maximum oil temp on this engine before it melts down ?

Something like 300-350 before the plastic standpipe in the oil filter melts.

Those temps are OK. The thermostat isn't even fully open until 219 and your oil temperature is only 10 over the coolant which is OK. I've seen coolant as high as 225 and I wasn't even towing.

The engine oil filter stand pipe melts at 350* EOT. At that point your motor is toast and NOT rebuildable. Your temps are well within acceptable levels.
