Seems like a waste of money when there a lots of doors still available in decent shape for around 50.00-100.00 each, Now for rear doors on panels would be a different story. Finding some in any shape is rare. If you find some you would be paying out the nose. I going to try to save mine but I dont know if I will be successful. Even if they had rear fiber doors at 500.00 for the set I would have to pass it up. Too rich for my blood.

Yeah, doors aren't that hard to find......

As they aren't finished, looks like they would be a HUGE amount of work and cleanup. No access hole, no window channel, I wonder how strong they are in the hinge area? I think I'll stick with steel....not so itchy!

Like we were talking before you posted the link, they don't even look functional. Take for instance the window area. After one cuts the window area out, I wonder if there is even a proper channel for the hardware, etc. They remind me of movie props. I'd love to know which company made them (or were they somebody's personal project in the back of a factory somewhere, etc.?).

Hmmm.... My 1950 F1's doors were shot. Looking down the window channel you just saw cottage cheese holes at the bottom of the door.
We looked hard for replacement doors here in Texas this summer - it was easy to find a lot of doors in the same or worse condition - much harder to find decent 60 year old doors without major rust issues. We ended up making a mold for the bottom of the door & filling it with fiberglass then spent a lot of time re-working it.

There are no aftermarket doors for '48-'52 - I would have bought fiberglass replacements - not sure what this guy is selling though - since the window appears to be solid fiberglass?

Not as easy as just walking into a salvage place for better doors. There are replacements for '53 & up.

Ben,

You should have expanded your search nationwide. I know someone local that has a pair of solid doors for sale (I sold the same doors to him several years ago and he never used them).

There are still good doors out on the west coast.

I remember when these doors were being sold; can't remember if it was Gibbons or another outfit in Florida. IIRC they are two halves bonded together around the edges, and they would sell them either as raw (like shown) or finished (window "glass" cut out and such) Seems like someone on here had them on his truck?

Ten years down the road, it's likely all the good doors will be used up by the Rust Belt crowd, this may be the future!

The future is to remake the door skin sections and/or the bottom of the shell because that is primarily where the rot occurs.

I remember seeing these doors a long time ago, the company made front clips to. I remember they had different types of doors and fenders, one kind for street and another for strip. Different weight and strength.

You know when you really need them you can't find them anywhere.
My doors were really crap for 12 inches from the bottom of the door both inside & outside. I looked hard online but most of the doors were also 60 years old & looked just like mine. There was even a place down in Seguin near my truck that specializes in old truck salvage & we looked at 6 sets of his doors. There is also the deal where the door openings in the cab had shifted around the existing doors - would have to do some work to get new straight doors to fit in there.

I wish you guys better luck on finding the elusive '48 -'50 doors - it was
the one part that I'm not happy with. In the end we went with a kind of a fibermetal solution - one of those "why did the previous owner" do this crap - except I'll be that guy. Here's to hoping it lasts.
