need help with engine id
i bought a 79 f100 that is suppose to have a 302.i bought an oil cap for it a couple of days ago that was suppose to be for a 79 f100 with a 302 and its not sealin right its still leakin u can wiggle it and tell that its either to small or to big. my dad was looking at it today and he was sayin that they swapped it to a serpintene belt and theres a pulley that doesnt have a belt on it and it looks like they had to mod the plastic piece that covers the radiator to get it to fit.so i wanted to know where i can find the engine model number or something to tell what size it is and what year the motor is.

First, does the oil cap have the round gasket under it that seals it to the valve cover ? If it does then couldn't you just bend down both sides of that little metal piece under the cap that spins in and holds it in place to tighten it up some ?

thats a grand marquee 302 id bet they have 2 drain plugs. see how the intake is so narrow thats the easiest way to id the motor when the choke stat hangs over top of the valve cover its a narrow dude witch means 255,289,302 cid
