Ford idea's needing help!
hey, I have a 1999 ford f350 with the 5.4l, 4R100, and 38.5 super swampers and a 4:55 posi. i have gone threw one tranny, tranny rebuild, 2 engines, and a set of axles. Recently i went for about a 4 hour drive pulling about 7,000 pound trailer and lost compression in my number 2 and 3 cylinders. instead of putting in another 5.4l i wanna go diesel. i would love to do a fummins swap but it seems expensive with all the crap id need. so i was looking on craigslist for some used diesels and came across a 1999 ford 7.3l and tranny, and all so a 1992 cummins 5.9 with a allison at 545. witch would be easier or more beneficial. im a full time student and em on a budget! this is my last hope for the truck as im getting frustrated dumping money in it and only being able to drive it for like 4 months before it breaks again! Any help or ideas would be great!

what the hell are you doing that you are killing the motor and transmission so often?
I would go to a junkyard, grab another 5.4 2v and put it back in there. Easy and none of the motor swap headaches.

I havnt done anything to it, i havnt even had a chance to go off road with it or even hot rod it. And a 5.4 would be an easy swap its just after to of em ****ting out on ya, ya kinda want something else. besides every weekend in the summer i pull a trailer so a diesel would be better for me
