Rep history

Ok, I never go to the non-tech forums, but I learned a new term today...GNAC. At first I thought it was another automobile company, or maybe a financial institution, or even a supplement store (GNC's little brother?), but no, I learned there is life outside of the three tech forums I regularly visit.

Happy New Year people.

You know... It was this "I'll rep you if you rep me again and again and again" BS that got rep points limited in the first place.
Reps should be given if someone gives out good, usable advice or is helpful. In the case of GNAC or the Club, they're usually given out for a well written opinion or funny joke, etc.
Continuing to abuse rep points is just going get them further limited or eliminated altogether.

I was not around for it, but I've read about it.
As I understand it, a number of people would get together, post and rep each other again and again until they had large numbers of essentially meaningless rep points. The limits on rep points were put into place to help prevent that.

I'll give rep if for something that makes me laugh mostly, but I'll also sometimes go to a forum I never even read and give out rep *****-nilly to random posters with some bizarre comment attached.
I figure it's my daily ration of rep, and I'll spend it damn way I want.

Well I just got cut off.
I never got there before.
I've given all I'm allowed to give for this 24 hours. (10 I think it was )
To those I missed today I'll see if I can get to you tomorrow.
Or the next day or the next, or even next year.
Happy New Year!

When I first started accruing reps, it was for my posts in the 7.3L forum exclusively.
Then I'd see some people who rarely ever posted in the tech forums, with tons of greenies. And that doesn't even take in almost every single female user who within 6 months of being here, will have a ton of reps.
I've read in the 7.3L forum where others have stated a vast majority of reps are earned in the Club forums and General talk forums. I can honestly say 90% of my reps have come from tech threads and posts. Heck, less than a hundred have come from that Excursion thread.
I don't get joke reps, or "that was funny" reps, or "that was insightful" reps.
I get 'em because of the help I give.
Does that make my reps more valuable?
Nope, reps it reps. That's all.
I just wanna accumulate enough to get my free Ford truck!
