All of this rep conversation (and entirely too much time on my hands) has inspired me to do some research.

Another "limiting factor" in the rep system is how much rep you can spread in 24 hours.

It's ten.

Thus, we now know that you can only rep ten posts in a 24 hour period, and you must rep 20 other posters before you can rep the same person twice.

(Yes, I am keeping notes... )

There has to be more to it than that though. I recall one post I made in the 6.0L section (when I broke the upper fuel filter bowl), and I tried to rep everyone who responded with good advice. I only got maybe 5 in before it shut me down.

So maybe you can only rep a certain number of times in a certain thread in a given time period also.

Could well be. There's lots of limiters for lots of reasons, and I don't know all of them.

I haven't run into that myself tho...threads like the Friv thread (and this one...) seem to generate lots of Rep in various directions.
