Bone stock '96 crew cab F250 4x4 that has become the daily "short bus" with the 5'4" wife, a 6yr and a 13yr old hopping up into it a couple of times a day.
Though I like the look of the big cast aluminum hoop/steps I do not want a step that attaches to the cab or through the rocker panel. And I'd like the steps to keep the shoes off of the rocker panels too.
Does anyone have suggestions on solid steps that bolt only to the frame? I do have access to a fabrication shop so your ideas are appreciated!
Thanks!!

I have looked and have not found any like mine yet, but I will look again.
Mine are mounted the the main beams with a sideways A-frame flat bar. There are running lights just under the edge. Stainless with outter rolled and skid bars with rubber incerts. I will see if there is a manufacture marking on them some where.
Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I do have some really good "westin' nerf bars that actually bolt to the cab/body bolts......They don't bolt to the frame, but they don't bolt to the body really either.....kind of a best of both worlds situation....and as far as I've really seen, most nerf bars bolt up that way.
Westin nerf bars. They are ONLY available in chrome&black(no stainless) and ARE kinda close to the rocker, but are frame mounted
Next choice is DeeZEee tough steps. Frame mounted and are a steel/aluminum design. Are a VERY FUNCTIONAL step.

Thanks for the tip on the DeeZee Tough Steps, Brad! They look really nice.
But I just looked up the price - at least $200 EACH (not per pair)!
So I'm looking at over $800 for a set for my crew cab - youch!
I just can't sink that kind of $ into steps when I don't use the truck that often. I need something though, as my wife & kids really can't deal with the big step up.

Dont know where you were looking but they are sold as a PAIR, not individually
here is a link to some for LESS THAN 200 a PAIR Dee Zee DZ 23 Tough Step

Some of other sites that I checked specifically says that they are sold individually, as this one does:
