I've been having quite a few hard starts in the morning lately. The only thing that has seemed to alleviate the situation is plugging the truck in over night.
I've replaced glow plugs, GPR, ICPS, and completed the .50 cent mod.
This morning, on a whim, I plugged in the Superchips Flashpaq unit to check for DTCs after the first failed start. I came back with a P1570 DTC. Did a few searches here and turned up nothing regarding this error code. Anyone have an idea of what this might be an indication of?
"P1570 Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit High"- From Guzzle's page of DTCs.
Well, I'm an idiot. The DTC that was pulled this morning was 1670, not 1570. The glare from the sun along with my sloppy attention to detail through me off.
And now I see plenty of threads pertaining to this code.
Reading a few threads on the P1670 DTC, I think I might have tripped that code when I attempted to crank with the Supertuner plugged in, adding to the amp draw from the batteries.
On a whim, I went out today and ohmed my UVCH from the outside of the valve covers. I was attempting to follow the TB#103 for troubleshooting the IDM, but I must be stupid because I could not find the 26 pin harness discussed in the TB. Instead, I hit the harness where it enters the valve cover. If I am correct in my thinking, I have a bad GP in the #7 cylinder. Hardly enough to cause my cold start issues/rough morning issues. Borrowing a laser thermometer from a co-worker tomorrow to shoot the exhaust manifold on Wednesday morning to see if I can ID a non-operational injector during the morning start.
