I have a 2002 F350 diesel with over 200,000 miles on it. Recently after running the truck for a while it will not start right away. I get this reading of P0683, P0603 and P0670.
Can someone tell me if the Glow Plug Module needs to be change it s the original and just want to make sure before spend money.
Thanks
Glow plug control module is usually a california truck. You do mean gpcm and not gp relay right? If I read these right, P0683 is gpcm to pcm communication circuit fault. P0670 is gpcm fault. And p0603 is kam, or keep alive memory. Had the batterys disconnected or changed? Most here have glow plug relays and know how to test those. Others may have a cal. truck or excursion with gpcm and will be able to help you out. Its early so be patient and they will show up. And welcome to FTE.
EDIT. The part that it won't start right away after running awhile went right by me. If its already warm it should start and the glow plugs won't be a factor. You still have those codes though. Clear or have them cleared and see if they come back. The slow start is another issue.
The batteries were disconnected to be check. If the GPCM is going bad will it cause not to start sometimes. Also is there a way to check it prior to spend the $150 from Napa on a new.
Thanks
There are ways to check it. None easy enough. I'd just drop the coin and get it. But forget Napa. Help a forum sponsor out and get it from Riffraff.
Generally that's the only fix. If it were one code it could POSSIBLY be a chaffed wire. But multiple codes probably means a bad GPCM. My vote is replace it. Heck if you're wrong just return it. It takes 5 minutes to swap out.
After replacing the Glow Plug Module and the cam sensor. I have no codes on the scanner. However, after driving the truck for one hour or two it stalled and after cool down about a while t started and stalled after hot.
Now I been reading lots of info and this is what I got so far.
Flow Sensor
Fuel injector control
Fuel pump
and one person said that he change the wire harnesses for glow plug on top of the head covers?
Any suggestion would be appreciated since we are on tide budget.
Thanks
