And with regard to the CAFE, when did they start applying that to the Super Duty, or did I miss something? Last I recall, the CAFE standards only applied to trucks and cars with a GVWR of 8,500 LBS. or less. Otherwise we'd see MPG ratings on our window stickers.
There was some changes made for the 2011 MY to CAFE standards. Now they go by the vehicle footprint (square feet) instead of GVWR.
I've never seen a SD rated for fuel economy either. Regardless there is hardly any mpg difference between 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30 gears for the modulars. The 6.2l doesn't seem to suffer much mpg wise with 4.30s. I remember reading something (I think from the 6.2l thread with the Ford engineer) that the SDs were included in a part of the CAFE standards. Who knows. With the gooberment everything is giant PITA and nobody knows whats going on, including the beaurocrats that drafted and passed the law.
In order to keep this "politics free", I'll just post the link without quoting anything. It's a pretty good read that spells out what qualifies under CAFE and what doesn't.
