Yea, Yea, Yea....Sorry. 2012 with diesel and the 6 speed tranny and yes STAKE. Man, this is a tough room.
I was leaning to the 4:30 because I read on the towing guide that this truck 4x4 crew diesel it would bump the GCWR to 30,000#
Either would do the job fine. I would probably go with 4.30s myself especially if the truck will not spend much time over 65mph. The older 7.3l and 6.8l trucks with the 4R100 used to have 4.88 gears. The 4.88 gears were needed for the 6.8l but the 7.3l ran close to the redline at highway speeds. You will not have that problem with the OD ratio of the 6 speed auto with 4.30s at highway speeds. The 6.7l will rev higher than the old 7.3l did.
All this talk abought meat and steak has got me hungry! Should I choose a 4.10lb rib eye or a 4.30lb porterhouse? My neighbor's son's friend is a butcher and he told him to get the 3.73lb t-bone because it comes with upgraded seasoning!

i am talking about the Corporate Average Fuel Economy rules the USA put in place.the car companys put in axle ratios and other changes to help the fuel mileage for the government tests.even if the changes make the truck not as good out in the real world

To try and stay on topic I would swap over to 4.30 just for the torque advantages and if you feel like its a bit too much gear then just get a larger tire to bring it down to the 4.10 range.

And with regard to the CAFE, when did they start applying that to the Super Duty, or did I miss something? Last I recall, the CAFE standards only applied to trucks and cars with a GVWR of 8,500 LBS. or less. Otherwise we'd see MPG ratings on our window stickers.
John to be fair, I think he learned it from Powerstroke help.com ^so it's not really his fault he dosent know what the hell he's talking bought...ROTF..LMAO!
