I'd try the vss first tho, because from what I found out that can also cause the same issue.

Just bought a '95 F-250 7.3 with the e40D.
Not sure if it's the Tranny or what but it is really slow and trany is shifting very weird.
The Speedometer and Odometer is not working and I read the forums and bought a new VSS sensor from Ford ($80 bucks, isn't that a little high?) but that did not fix the problem.
Any Ideas?

Get codes with an scanner and then go from there.
Does the OD light is blincking (spel?)

Went to Autozone they said there were no codes, but I just saw a post that they can't read pas codes.......
I did replace the VSS, didn't help.
Saw a post about the gauge solder points maybe I will take the dash apart and check the circuit board.
How much did Ford want for the gauge circuit board?

Exactly you have to have a code stored and the only way to know it its with a scanner that can read Ford PSD codes.
