well thats what i have and as you know it will not start i drove it about 100 miles on sunday night got home shut it off and then went to the store later that night shut it of and went in the store came back out and no start tried a few things no go pulled the fuel filter and the bowl was filling up so the pump is good but no smoke when cranking got it towed home the next morning come out to try it and it started ran like dog doo-doo took it around the block ran rough pulled back into the driveway and it died again from what i have been reading i am thinking it is the ficm but what do you think
It could be the FICM, but it sounds like the STC fitting may be loose.
They symptoms of a failing STC fitting are close to what you described: when warm truck will crank, but not start. When cold, the truck may restart and run normally or start normally and idle rough.
You may also check the ICP sensor located on the passenger side valve cover. Unplug the sensor, if it starts runs, and drives somewhat normally, that may be your problem.
Yup. Definitely need to check the FICM voltage per the test procedure in the tech folder at the beginning of the 6.0 forum. Also need to verify ICP and IPR values while cranking the truck. I suspect an STC fitting blowout also.
It would be great if you could use a scanner to help diagnose the issue. Did you get it scanned for codes? A lot of guys here use a ScanGauge II to monitor the motor and it also can get a lot of the codes the computer throws. The check engine light does not have to be on for a code to be stored.
just how much oil are you loosing? is it leaking on the ground or do you belive its being burnt.
so far as your no start goes. not much I can offer with knowing what ICP, IPR and ficm readings are.
