Ok here goes....I have an 06 F250 6.0l. I went to lunch one day, got into the truck it wouldn't start. Called dealer, they had it towed. When the mech went to get into the truck and start it. It started but ran rough. They shut it down and waited then restarted it and it was fine. Picked up no codes. The other day I was driving home and I kept losing exceleration. The next morning on the way to work it was worst. Acting like it wasn't getting fuel. So I took it back to the dealer. I now have a loaner. They got into the truck and it won't start, said they finally got it started but ran very rough. Has anyone had this problem...This is my first ford diesel and I'm getting alittle bit disappointed with it...
I had a similiar issue with my 05 6.0. It would not start or had weak acceleration.
They thought it was the alternator which was spiking, bad batteries. They could not reproduce the problem so I took it home. Tried to start it and kicked over but would not engage. I took my video camera and recorded the sound of it. I got in the next morning and it kicked right over. Took it back to the dealer and played the tape. They said it was a high pressure sensor or valve. The sensor or valve told the computer that it was not getting oil so it shut down the fuel. Thus it would not start. They changed the high pressure oil sensor/valve and it works fine. Took them a week to figure out... Hope this helps.
The fuel and air filters were just changed 2k ago on the truck by the same dealer. I keep regular maintenance on it. The dealer does it. A few people have told me that the CAM sensor may be the problem. I know that the first time it died that they in fact had the truck with computer on board and it didn't show any codes. I asked the to check the sensors. That it seems to be a common problem with the 7.3 and now seems the 6.0. It's very frustrating because this is one time I really need my truck. So I will call them again today and see what thier word is. I have found out more info on the diesel and ford forums than the dealer it self can tell me. When the truck is running right it's the bomb but now it's a dud. I losing my faith in all the hype over the ford diesel...Reliable my butt. My horse is more reliable than this 40K truck is... So will let cha know when I hear something....
THere was not error codes when they diagnosed my truck. THey replace the hpv based on the sound the engine was making. It had plenty of fire but no fuel.
What type of riding do you do? My daughter does hunter/jumper/eventing. English style. Think she would be into rodeo and barrels but english riding is popular here in Texas.

I'm just into trail riding. I go to the mountains of Va,Md,Pa and camp for the weekend and ride. Great mental therapy. Not into the Tally Ho scene..I don't like people or crowds. You would think that it would be the opposite with all the rodeos they have in TX... Well I hope that she is winning alot of blues in her showing....
Hanging around a horse barn will make you a stable person.
Right now I don't feel to stable Just got off phone with dealer Truck running great BUT can't get it to mimic the problem. So they are keeping it today and will continue testing it. I told them that the computer probably won't detect it. Plus they didn't know what the HPV was. Did say that they did an oil pressure check on it the last time it was there.. This morning they were saying it might be the egr valve. But can't replace it until they get a code on it. What ever happened to the good ole days of points and plugs
