When was the last tune-up? Plugs, ignition wires, cap and rotor?

When you said "messed with the dist, carb", what did you do? What is the current timing set at? When was the carb last rebuilt? Have you checked mixture and bowl levels?

What RPM is the truck at when idling in Park?

Gotta know these things in order to help you.

Don't forget the fuel filter. As it starts to move, and requires more fuel, if the filter is clogged, it will starve for fuel and die when you try to move, or at best, be a total dog. Don't know if it applies in your case, but it's an easy thing to check, and equally easy to overlook. Good luck.

Yup, good call. Vacuum lines are always an issue on our trucks if they haven't been replaced in the last 20 years or so. I'd go ahead and do that "just because", and change the PCV valve with a Motorcraft valve while your at it.

Tell us EXACTLY what you've done so far, and to what specifications, and we'll be better able to help. You need to be precise...this is the internet and we can't read minds, or look over your shoulder. (that is just a truism, NOT to criticize) The more you help us, the better we can help you.
