6.4 wrench light/ drain water seperator

So today. I filled my truck full of diesel. when I started it back up, it through the wrench light plus drain water seperator. no idea what it could be I have a loss in power. wont get over 45mph. any input it appreciated. thanks

it is in limp mode.


The fact that it threw the water light is perhaps an indication of water in the fuel.


I would immediately drain the separator and check which codes you have. I would not drive the truck till you can confirm if you have water in your fuel.


If so, start a claim with the fuel station. Save the receipt.

the fuel filters most likely have white jell in them as well.

also, you did not say if the fuel was run dry to an empty tank or a normal top off.

running it dry to an empty tank introduces the additional potential of hpfp being run dry and could result in metal particles in fuel system....potential injector damage.

water is heavier than fuel and will settle to the bottom. condensation from running tanks low builds up condensation. point being your tank can generate water if you dont keep your tanks full . so not necessarily source of water being the station pump.
