I have a 302 with a C4. The two came from different vehicles, but they fit together great. My problem is that it shifts based off what speed I am going instead of what the RPMs are running at. Is there a way to fix this problem. (It gets kind of annoying if I'm going a constant 38 and it keeps up shifting and down shifting.)
do you have the modulator hooked to manifold vacuum and do you have the down shift rod hooked to the carburetor... it sounds to me like you don't have the rod hooked up...
I have both of them hooked up. The problem isn't if I give it a lot of gas. It definitely down shifts if I do. The problem is when I am going a constant speed. Usually around 38 it shifts back and forth between gears. If I slow down to 35 it will stay in the lower gear. If speed up to 40 then it will stay in the higher gear.
I climbed under to take a look and it is all the way forward. When under there looking at it I noticed another line that is not hooked up to anything. I am attaching a picture with an arrow to it. Is this supposed to be hooked up to anything? Or any other recommendations on how to fix it?
That's a vent.. so you have the downshift rod hooked up so the throttle lever will hit it about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and push it backward as you go full throttle. If so you good..
Sorry, I still haven't fixed it. I got really busy with school and work. I will go over to the other site and check to see if anyone can help there. Not sure that I'll be doing too much with it through the winter though. I am storing it at my sister's so I can keep my car in my garage and out of the snow. I'll definitely keep you updated on it.
