transmission problem
my 87 f-150 302 with a c6 transmission 3 spd is shifting really hard. also when im running about 45 mph and i floor it, it acts normal but then it downshifts to 2nd gear and will rev up and not shift to 3rd. i have to take my foot off the gas pedal and then barely touch it to get it to shift. is this something to do with the vaccum or the modulator or is my transmission going bad?

Is your kickdown in adjustment? sounds like to me that your throttle position signal to the tranny is too high. Possibly you may have some s**T caught in your governer.Try this, go to the top of a hill, put it in drive, no throttle, and coast down. As your road speed increases, The tranny should shift up with no problems. If it does not, unhook your kickdown linkage, and unplug your modulator. Try agian. if it still does not up shift correctly, then you more than likely have a govener issue. If it works, then put your vaccum pump on the modulator to see if the diaphram is blown.
