Cat. replacement ???
When and how do you know when to replace your catalytic converter. I have read on a few different sites that after years of use it should be replaced (I don't buy it) They claim more power and better fuel economy.
I know if it is plugged it will not allow it to start due to pressure. Truck is a 1986 Bronco XLT so it makes it 25 years old, should it be replaced or not? Only asking because muffler and tail pipes need doing.

i replaced my cat converters with a hiflow cat from Magnaflow, runs about $60 and is 3" in/out. i am very pleased.
we dont know what motor your have, regardless get the Y pipe rebuilt from scratch. all mandrel bent and what not. make sure the o2 sensor is in the same location as before.

Does anyone that used a Magna flow high flow cat have a part number? There are so many to chose from.
Also I am pretty sure that I only have a single cat just before the muffler, did newer models go to a two cat set up. Mine is a 1986 with 5.oL
