good day i would like to install a 460 into my bronco replacing the tired 400m and would like to use the swap kit from jeffs bronco with the 7qt pan, mounts and fenderwell headers has any one used this kit? any downfalls/problems? the truck is stock height/w33s will their fender well headers clear the duel front shock towers with out being lifted? or would the chassis exit be better i like the idea of getting the exaust out of the way any issues with the stock front sway bar? after all the work on that 400 i ran into an issue with the timeing cover/water pump plate 1 hole is stripped on that cover that bolts the water pump to it and i cant seem to locate another one and if i go with the 460 i have new 400 parts that will be for sale as i will have no need for them thanks in advance
I bought my 79 Bronco, it already had a 460 in it. It still had the stock front sump oil pan, which barely cleared the front axle at stock height... since then I installed a 6" suspension lift. The PO had cobbled up the original 351m mounts to fit the 460. Since then I replaced them with a set of the extreme duty mounts from JBG. I also am going to the 7qt oil pan and L&L headers. I ended up going to the 3/4 length "shorty" headers instead of the long tubes. I didn't like how the chassis exit headers fit and the fenderwell headers were not an option because I wanted to hook them up to my existing exhaust system. If your truck has factory ac you will have to shoe horn it past the heater box, it's a snug fit. Other than that its a pretty easy swap.
As for the timing cover on the 400, you should be able to get one through JBG. Hope this helps!

perfect thanks for the info john i should have just scrapped that 400 in the 1st place but i am too far into it for parts to stop now but thats the way it goes what brand of headers did you go with? i have no heater box or air cond so lots of room and i will have to re-do the exaust any ways to fit the 460 but i ike the idea of fender well exit headers but i would think there would be a lot of heat in the front fender area?
I went with the L&Ls from JBG, like I said they are the 3/4 length. When I first put this truck together I decided to keep the stock exhaust manifolds and had the local exhaust shop install 2.5" duals. I don't have them installed yet, I plan on putting them on along with a ton of other things I plan to do to the Bronco over the winter.
I love the look of fenderwell headers, I am thinking I will go that route when I redo my 77 F250 High Boy. I could see it getting pretty warm in the fenderwells, headers naturally do kick out more heat than stock manifolds.
