ok here is the deal, i have been sitting here for 3 hrs reading posts, i dont get it....i have a 1990 7.3, with a e40d, i am building a 1987 6.9, i want to keep my e4od. i have read i can.....and i have read i can not use the flexplate from the 7.3....has anyone done this .... a little help please
Why would a turbo make any difference with the flex plate? The 94' turbo IDI could be had with either E40D, ZF and if I'm not mistaken, special ordered with the C6.
I read once that the vibration dampener should not be interchanged between the 6.9/7.3. Also read that it made no difference!
There are many E40D swaps with the 6.9. As long as the flex plate/flywheel are zero balanced alone (not attached to the engine) there should not be a problem. As long as there are no balance problems with engine, there should not be any vibration.
Using the 7.3 flex plate is the only way to swap to an E40D (far as I know) as there was never an automatic over drive coupled to the 6.9.
