well last night i blew the #8 spark plug out of my 2002 F-250 with the 5.4. it broke the coil and the plug was on top of the head next to the intake. can anyone tell me the best and cheapest way to fix this.
It is called a time-sert kit. I don't remember how much they cost but time-sert makes a kit specifically for modular heads. Obviously you will need a new coil. Also, while you're doing the time sert, which is pretty easy, make sure you check the torque on all your spark plugs to prevent them from doing the same thing.
For speciality tools shipped in a jiffy I'd visit Amazon and look for deals with free shipping and of course compare prices for the exact same item.
I'd add from everything read here about this same issue Time Sert is the absolute best way to go. There are less expensive tools claiming to do the same thing but why risk it when there's a proven solution and best practice.
If the cost of the tool and work involved exceeds what you're comfortable with maybe contact and independent and trusted shop to do just the one plug? That will run you about $400 (or less) typically and maybe ask them about changing plugs for you too.
There are many threads here about plugs in Modular motors----I have a list of links if that would be helpful.
