Blew a spark plug in a 5.4 need advice

I blew the threads on the third spark plug back on the drivers side. I was 3 hours from home when it happened so I went to advance auto and bought a 30 dollar spark plug thread repair kit and did it. Then 10 minutes of running it the threads blew again. The plug is still in there but it spins either way by hand but doesnt come out not sure whats going on. Also my new coil was trashed. I saw that there are kits just for this and was wondering if they would work since I already tapped the hole out. I didnt drill the hole out just tapped it. Also how bad is it to drive like that I unplugged the coil and fuel injector.

www.timesert.com is the proven kit, just costs alot. As for the cylinder, you should be ok but really wont know till you get it fired back up.

If the timesert one won't work check out the CalVan repair kit from Denlors Tools. They have a video at their website that shows the insert being installed. I think its a little cheaper($250) but extra inserts are like $50 ea. The kit comes with six inserts and the drill bit, tap, and guide for both so the insert is installed straight. Just used this to fix mine about 2 months ago.

The diameter of the CalVan insert is .73". According to the website it will work where a helicoil has failed. The site has a very good FAQ section, you can also view a video showing the install of the insert. Here's the address: CalVan Tools Ford Spark Plug Insert Installer CAL 38900
