Sounds more like an ICP sensor or the Ipr valve.

Check your FICM voltage and if you're using the SG2 to scan your 04 for codes get something else.

if you dont get a code either a dealer or an Auto Enginuty for a cylinder balance test

Might also try to give the injector harnesss a wiggle test might have a short

So at cold startup it runs smooth as silk?????

yep at cold start it funs smooth if you let it idle for about 5 to 10 minutes it will start to miss ramdomly but not real bad the longer you let it idle the worse it will miss. i started it last night and found that out. yesterday when i left to go to work it cranked normal i left and got about a mile down the road to a stop light and thats when it started acting up drove it home and thats where it sits.is there anything i can look at with the scan gauge to tell me if an injector is going south? i also looked at ICP and IPR the values looked normal for what they been running.

thanks again

Here's some codes for fuel injectors in X Gauge. I haven't used them myself, but might be worth a shot:

These are from James DeLong at Scangauge. (Well, thats a lot of gauges. )

Yea, MAP is a standard gauge - but this XGauge is actually better than the standard one. It has a larger range which was needed because the standard gauge tops out around 37 psi absolute (about 22 lbs of boost), which diesels have no problem doing. This one should read well beyond 22lbs of boost.

Manifold Absolute Pressure
TXD: 07E0221440
RXF: 046285140640
RXD: 3010
MTH: 012203200000
NAM: PSI

With a little tweaking you can adjust this to read boost as you said.

To do this, just plug in the MAP code - get a reading from it with the key in the on position but the engine off, then based on the reading changed the last 4 digits of the MTH to whatever corresponds to your reading on this table

14.0 -- FF74
14.1 -- FF73
14.2 -- FF72
14.3 -- FF71
14.4 -- FF70
14.5 -- FF6F
14.6 -- FF6E
14.7 -- FF6D
14.8 -- FF6C
14.9 -- FF6B
15.0 -- FF6A

So, for example if you got a reading of 14.5 PSI with key on engine off you'd change the MTH to 01220320FF6F and the reading should read 0.0 with key on engine off and would then show how many lbs of boost you were at when the vehicle is running.

I never had any luck with most of the injector xgauges. I'm starting to think it's exhaust leaking into the fuel rail but there are too many other things it could be as well.

You need to do a ballon test to narrow it down to which head

then after you figure what head it is let it warm up till its missing again the unplug each injector 1 at a time when you unplug the bad one there will be NO Change in how it runs when you unplug the good ones it will sound and run Worse and miss harder

a cylinder balance test may get it too IDK

Almost sounds like a bad injector harness

Some trucks with the 6.0 may exhibit a crank/no start, rough running, misfire, buck/jerk or lack of power. This may be due to the FICM harness chafing on a valve cover stud near the FICM. Other potential locations for chafing are where the harness routes past the EBP sensor, the belt idler on the driver side of the engine, the glow plug control module bracket on the passenger side of the engine, and the accelerator pedal sensor wires at the steering column (adjustable pedals only). Reroute and repair the harness as necessary. Broadcast Message 0918/1374, SSM #17522.
