Hi everyone..i drive a 2000 ford f250 7.3L diesel (V8) and have had no problems except i have noticed a squealing coming from the passenger front wheel area. i assume something is wrong with my brakes?!? is this a common problem and how to i fix/diagnose this? the squealing stops only when i depress the brake pedal - the rest of the time it is present and getting louder. is it possible my brake pad is rubbing the rotor? im not sure what to be looking for but i am taking the wheel off tomorrow for a closer inspection. any insight would be much appreciated!! thanks!
this has happend to me twice turnd out to be a pice of gravel each time if you are lucky just remove the stone and go on..... if not well it cost me a rear rotor 2nd time good luck
thanks guys for the ideas. i just took the wheel off today and the caliper and brake pads...no debris - no damage to rotor - brake pads look ok so i used a c-clamp to reset the caliper put it all back together and test drove...the squeal is gone..probably just a sticky caliper that held the pad to the rotor gently.
