I just realized what was meant by "1/4 to 1/2 a turn" was the lower injector hold downs. I went and bought an in-lb torque wrench just for this (I'll be able to use it on inspection calls to electrical boxes also). So 20 Ft-lb to the rockers and 120 in-lb to the injector hold down... I'm on it; and I will check for burnt pins.
It seems it was the driver side that came off; I've already defaced two quarters to the chagrin and confusion of my girlfriend. I just told her it costs $.50 to fix the truck. :-P I'm not sure if I'll show her where they went <chuckle>
Torqued as stated above. Figured I should ohm things out before I put it all back together.
All glow plugs 0.8 to 0.9... I have to change them all?
Passengers side injectors all 3.6
Drivers side injectors read 39 to 40 ohms
I reconnected the damnable connector and now it reads 196 to 199
Is there some kind of trick to reconnecting it right?
Just pulled the No2 cyl glow plug and it reads 0.8 ohms directly. Doesn't seem to be any damage to speak of; just some carbon build up on the tip. I think I'll run to the store and grab a set while I'm waiting to hear back about the injector bank :-(
As the tech said, the 02&03s have an updated clip that doesn't need the 50 cent mod. You shouldn't have needed to do it on your SD, maybe on the Excursion as it is older.
What tech? The OP never mentioned any tech, plus, he has a 2000 so the clips (if needed) apply to him.

All glow plugs 0.8 to 0.9... I have to change them all? Those are fine.
Passengers side injectors all 3.6. This is good.
Drivers side injectors read 39 to 40 ohms. This is too high of a reading. Recommend new wiring harness inside the valve cover.

I thought this was the case, too, but my 03 did not have said "updated clip." I fell victim to a loose UVCH about 6 months ago.
Well, I talked to Chris last night on the phone and was able to come to the conclusion that kwikkorded arived at, reps to quickkorded. I would give many reps to Chris but this bloody thing won't let me!
Anyway, I got up this morning and got a felpro gasket set from O'Reillys auto parts (it's the only thing I could find in stock on Sunday morning), had to work on the bathroom for a while to make the Mrs. happy but jumped right on putting my gaskets on as soon as I could break free.
Clean the mating surfaces of the valve cover and the head to make sure the o-rings seat well.
Connected the plug to the gasket and tested everything out. I got a bad reading on one injector so I pulled the gaskets back off and put a dab of dielectric grease on the tip of each terminal and pushed the same into the female plugs, (just enough to plug the holes) then wiped off the excess off.
*note* Dielectric grease is conductive so you don't want it bridging between two terminals; it will cause more problems than it solves.
I figured out this time that a small pair of hemostats clipped to the center terminal makes life a lot easier; set the ground tester on the hemostats and move the positive one across the injector terminals was a lot easier than trying to balance on my battery and hold two test leads to two male terminals :->
Put the rest of the stuff all back and tightened it all up... Hmm, did I tighten the driver side intercooler clamp? I'll go check that in a minute.
After it was all back together I fired her up and....

She's never sounded so good Woooot!!!!
Thank you! you probably saved me about $800.00 and a week waiting to get my rig back. Special thanks and kudo's to Chris for being such a dedicated FTE enthusiast and friend.
