you can get one out of a 87-91 ford truck, or 80-86 ford truck, I think 78 was the first year for them in the trucks, but there hard to find, they pop up on ebay alot. but basiclly all ford trucks used the same wiring connector so you can take that box and switch out of any later model up to 91 and put inter. wipers into anything back to, I think the early sixties.
I had a intermittent switch and a buddy of mine gave lucky me a govenor that was a spare for his '74 Pinto hope this helps.............( My 1st reply on FTE)
it easy to tell just look at the part # on the gov. box if it starts with D8 (1978) its the 78-79 gov. box, this is the oldest part # I've ever seen. You can usually see it in the pictures on ebay so don't pay that big money for a original 79 gov. box when the part number starts with E7 (1987)
I took a look and saw I do have the control box for intermittent wipers. Although I can only seem to get one speed to work, Fast. I also noticed my washer fluid pump didn't work so I flipped the connector around and it still didn't work. I am wondering if the control box is faulty.

The switch for intermittent wipers has an extra ground wire that must be attached to a good ground, or only high speed will work. If that is attached, it could be a faulty switch or bad wiper motor. As for the washer, that could be either a bad washer pump, or a problem in the wiring going to it.
Hey y'all, reviving an old post here. I installed intermittent wiper controls on my 75 about 6 years ago using parts from an 87. The wipers have always worked fine however the washer never did but I didn't worry about it because I didn't have a reservoir anyway. Now I'd like to get them working because I'm moving to a state which does safety inspections and requires them. I read the information about switching the small plug around which I did but it made no difference. Then I noticed that the portion of the governor plug where the two lead plug connects only has one terminal and wire which is black with a white stripe. Can anyone help me figure out what's missing?

Maybe the switch is broken?
Did you try checking for voltage with the switch pushed in?
I haven't checked yet. It's been raining down here all day so I haven't had much opportunity. Is there supposed to be another wire going to small plug from the governor side?

You plug the old harness into the governor harness and then plug the governor harness into the 80s truck switch.
Take the old 2 prong plug and plug that in and try it either way.
No other plugs come off the governor, it's inline of the main harness.
The only oddball is attaching the ground wire. The rest is plug-n-play. So if the washer isn't working then something is broken somewhere.
Okay, it stopped raining so I went and did some checking in the dark. I've got power all the way to the plug under the hood when I push the switch so I should be able to pump fluid once the reservoir is installed. Now let me ask a question about the washer operation. Should the wipers operate when you push the switch in or do you still have to turn the **** to make them go.

Pushing the **** just operates the washer, if you want the arms to cycle you have to choose INT-LOW or High

Thanks for the info Josh. I guess the fact that there's only one terminal for the two lead plug is irrelevant then.
I was expecting the wipers to run while I held the switch in however. Even my 68 Cougar with the foot pump operates the wipers while you push on the pedal.

Exactly, the stock switch has 2 spades, the 80s switch only has the one, hence the reason for installing the connector, checking operation and if needed reversing the connector.
It's been forever for me, but I don't remember pushing the washer function and having the wipers cycle. Pretty sure it just sprays. Although, you wouldn't need the washer reservoir connected to check that, push the **** and wipers either cycle or don't cycle.
