Also I heard of loss to low end power, any truth to that? I was looking at 3.5 down pipe with cat delete to 4in to 6in stacks.
One of the very first things I did with my truck was go 4in turbo back with no cat. The only other thing I had was an intake. I didn't notice any loss of low end with that. Of course, as the mods have been added I never noticed any thing sluggish down low. npccpartsman has done most of the work on my truck. As far as I can tell the only down side is that he says it's pain to work around and hook up if you have to disconnect it. If you're looking to counteract slow spooling or being sluggish down low, look at mild FICM tuning from PHP. Nearly wiped out my turbo lag with the stocker for measly $125.
Oh, and I guess it did eventually (over about 6 years) rub a hold in my tranny dipstick tube, requiring some down pipe messaging and a new dipstick tube.

4"s should not result in low end power loss, it's when you go with 5"s or more. The ones that think if less is more imagine how much more more is or they are trying to compensate for something else.

I know of more than one person that has complained of low end loss with a 4" downpipe. Jake's truck seems to be an exception to that rule. Ever since I've driven and worked on his truck the throttle response has been simply incredible, even with a sticky rusted up stock turbo. The addition of a Powermax didn't add any lag either. The only thing I can attribute it to is the PHP FICM tuning. We won't even mention the 18+ mpg's this monster gets at 8500+ pounds on 34" tires.
