While I can't answer which oil to use (although I think white grease would probably work fine)...one of my trucks sort-of has this problem. Sometimes, the passenger side window simply won't go up, period. As in it doesn't even try.
I've found that if I pop off the door panel and disconnect the wiring harness, then reconnect it, it usually works fine. It *seems* like the wiring harness plug is in there tight, so I'm not sure exactly what's wrong.
I do need to oil that window though...so I'll be subscribing to this thread...
I had sim problem with my 99! In my case the window would just stop working!! Drove me nuts with the on again off again working!! I finally tore into it and what was wrong was the armature on the window motor had a dead spot and if the motor stopped on that dead spot the window quit working! I got a rebuilt motor for it and that solved the problem! Don't know if thats your problem but may help someone else!
If you have to hit the button several times it sounds more like the switch to me. Mine has done it with the passenger window for a couple of years now. Sometimes I have to hit the button 4 or 5 times to get it to go up but if I go use the passenger switch it works fine.
